Create your workspace

Sign in with your Bookbag account, pick an organization, and make the workspace and the factory your workflows will live in.

This page takes you from nothing to an empty factory. It takes a few minutes.

CodeBook has no sign-in of its own. Every Bookbag product shares one account service, the way every Google product shares one Google account.

Open the app and choose Log in. You are handed to the account service, and handed back signed in. If you are already signed in to another Bookbag product, you will not see a form at all — the session is already there and you come straight back.

There is no separate CodeBook password to create, lose or rotate.

Signing in lands you on Organizations, the list of the organizations your account belongs to. If it belongs to none yet, you are sent to Bookbag SSO to create or join one.

Organizations

An organization is the tenant: the company or team that owns the work and the people in it. Organizations are created and managed in your Bookbag account at SSO, not in CodeBook, so the same organization is the same organization in every product. Manage organizations, in the organization switcher at the bottom of the sidebar, opens it.

Roles are owner, admin, member and viewer. What you can do inside CodeBook follows from the role your account carries in the organization. Members, roles and invitations are managed at SSO too — Members & access on the organization's home opens that page.

Workspaces

A workspace is where your factories and your installed agents live, and it is the boundary an agent cannot see past. A worker on a station in one workspace has no access to another workspace's cards.

Open the organization and choose Create a workspace — a tile on the organization's home, an item in the sidebar, and an entry in the workspace switcher all open the same dialog. The organization's home is also the list of its workspaces; there is no separate list of every workspace across organizations.

Agents you install belong to the workspace, so every factory inside it can put them on a station.

Factories

Inside a workspace, create a factory — from the workspace's home, or with the + on a section of the sidebar. A factory is the operating environment for one team or function — payments engineering, customer support, finance — and it holds as many workflows as that team needs. The New factory dialog starts it with one workflow, or installs a whole factory blueprint in one step.

Name it for how the team actually divides work. Two teams sharing one factory because it was easier is the usual reason a floor gets crowded; two factories in one workspace can still share the same installed agents.
