CodeBook
Sheet 07About

We did not start with the agents.

CodeBook started with a board — a real one, with cards, discussion and drag and drop — and it is why the floor underneath the agents is something a team can actually run on, rather than a demo built to hold a chat window.

01Why a factory

The insight was small and stubborn: a kanban column is already a job description.

“Analysis” says what happens to a card that lands there, who does it, and what has to be true before it leaves. That is also, exactly, what an agent needs to be given. So instead of inventing a new place for AI to live, we gave the columns workers.

Follow that far enough and you have a factory: several assembly lines on one floor, stations with workers, quality gates, handoffs between lines, a record of everything that happened. Coding agents keep getting better at manufacturing software, and most teams are still told to build the factory around them themselves.

CodeBook is the factory builder. You assemble it, staff it, run it and watch it — and the parts that have to be reliable are rules the platform enforces rather than prompts.

02Principles

Three things we will not trade.

  1. 01

    Evidence, not assurances

Every shipped skill says that an unverified criterion is blocked, never passed. You can read the line and change it.

  2. 02

    Deterministic first

Routing, retry limits and human gates are enforced by the platform. Development and QA can pass a card back and forth; the retry limit is what stops that going round for ever.

  3. 03

    Your copy of everything

Installing an agent copies its skill to you. We can improve the catalogue without rewriting what you tuned.

03Part of Bookbag

One account for every Bookbag product.

CodeBook shares one account service with every other Bookbag product. Sign in once and you move between them without another login screen; organizations, people and roles are managed in one place, so somebody who leaves the organization leaves every product at the same moment.

Ready to run

Don’t build your own software factory. Assemble one.

Build the factory. Pick the workers. Define how work moves. CodeBook runs it.
