Groups, filters and views

The ordinary board features under every workflow — groups, labels, the filter builder, the list view and the personal task list.

A workflow is a kanban board first. Everything on this page works whether or not a single station has a worker on it.

Groups

Columns live inside groups, and a workflow can have several. A group is a horizontal band across the board — one per workstream or release — so cards of different kinds can share the same stations without the board becoming unreadable.

Cards drag between columns and between groups.

When the stations differ, not just the cards, that is a second workflow in the factory rather than a second group. See Workflows and stations.

  • Labels for the cross-cutting facts — regression, customer-reported, needs-design.
  • Links between cards, for the dependency you would otherwise write in a description and forget.

Filters

The filter builder composes conditions across assignee, status, priority, label and due date. A filter worth returning to can be saved and named, and saved filters are how most people actually use a busy workflow — "my open bugs" rather than the whole wall.

Views

Alongside the board there is a list view over the same cards, with the columns you choose — for when the question is "what is outstanding" rather than "what station is it at".

The backlog

Cards that are not on the board yet wait in the backlog beside it. Moving one onto a station puts it in play.

My tasks

The per-person task list collects what is assigned to you across the workspace. In a workflow with human stations, this is where the person holding an approval station sees their queue.
